321 Fast Comics #1 Review: Brilliant

Deviantart.com has pretty much been the website for artists to share their art for many years now.

It’s gotten to the point where people have even posted their comics on the site with varying degrees of success. One of these “Deviants” is Felipe Cagno, owner of “Timberwolf Entertainment,” who came up with brilliant idea: get a group of comic writers and artists to make a comic book collection where each comic is only three pages long and has a twist at the end. The end result is “321 Fast Comics” and the first edition is a great success.

Ask any comic writer (or any writer for that matter) and they’ll tell you that writing a three page story is hard. Many of the comics here have managed to do a successful job at making impressive stories. The ones that stand out are “A True Panda’s Love” (the best story in the collection,) “Best Buds” and “Fireworks.” In fact, any story after “Pax” is worth a read. Everything before that not so much. The biggest problem with those stories is that their twist are either weak or make no sense. Not to mention the stories are not all that interesting.

As with every collection, the art has varying degrees of quality. They range from OK, original to the point of having no equal and downright awesome. Of course, there are comics with great art and less than stellar story like the stories before “Pax.” There are some with OK art and strong stories, like ‘White Tiger Paradox.” In all, the artists here have talent and none fall into the “never draw again, PLEASE!” category.

“321 Fast Comics” is a brilliant idea and the first issue has a ton of potential. Once get past the first few comics this collection will entertain and amaze you. Right now it is still being funded through “Kickstarter,” but if you’re looking to fund something this is one project that should be funded and get more issues on the way.
