Swerves, storyline drama and a few damn good matches this week on Impact did an awesome job to set up next week’s Lockdown event. With the match card beginning to take shape, there’s an awesome balance between title drama and mid-card intrigue.
Check out this week’s TNA Impact Wrestling Power Rankings to see where the battle lines have been drawn for Lockdown.
Interesting: Kurt Angle’s “Challenge†to Gunner could be a huge turning point for the former TNA TV Champion. With a great look and more charisma than people give him credit for, he’s just a few big wins away from getting back in the mix. It would help if TNA had a secondary title that he could fight for though.
End of an Alliance: Bram was already carving a niche of his own in TNA and Magnus is too good a face to keep a heel. Their eventual brawl will be a good one.
Honorable Mention: Taryn Terrell: She’s not Awesome Kong and she’s definitely not Gail Kim, but Terrell continues to gain credibility as a tough, but beautiful champion. Much like other performers who use the Cutter, Terrell can hit the maneuver from a variety of different places. Add her solid stamina and chin and she’s a tougher opponent than most think.
5: Eric Young: After Tommy Dreamer pointed out he never asked Roode for a title shot, Young attempted to take out the hardcore legend, but Roode made the save, which continues the feud between the two former TNA World Heavyweight champions. Angry and brooding, this version of EY isn’t as entertaining, but he’s still someone to take very seriously.
4: Bobby Roode: He’s got his match against Eric Young and he wants EY to bleed. This will be a classic.
3: MVP: The Leader of the Beat Down Clan continues to find a way to stay involved in the TNA World Heavyweight title picture, but his match
2: Kurt Angle: Adding Gunner and Austin Aries to his team for Lockdown, Angle is two steps closer to taking out the Beat Down Clan for good, but who else does he add?
1: Bobby Lashley: Although he has no opponent for Lockdown Lashley successfully defended his title against Austin Aries, Bobby Roode and MVP.
