This past week’s Impact Wrestling had it all, great matches, storyline development, hotties and intrigue.
If only every week could be like this.
Add in a new X-Division Champion and TNA World Heavyweight Champion and Impact Wrestling was without a doubt at its best since premiering on Destination America.
Matches:
Ultimate X: TNA Tag Team Champions Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards vs. Manik and The Great Sanada vs. Zema Ion and Jessie Godderz w/Angelina Love: A great opening match with plenty of offense. Although every team had their chances to grab the belts, the Wolves got the win after they took out The Revolution with the Double Stomp and grabbed the titles.
Samoa Joe w/X Division Champion Low-Ki vs. Austin Aries: In what may possibly be Joe’s last televised match with TNA, it was a good back and forth encounter that saw Aries get the win after Joe got DQed after Ki got involved. Aries also got the last laugh when he hit Ki with the Discus Elbow, taking back his World Title Shot briefcase back.
X-Division Champion Low-Ki vs. Rockstar Spud: Spud cashed in his briefcase and hit Low-Ki , who just got nailed by Aries, with the Underdog for the win and his first X-Division title.
Knockouts Champion Taryn Terrell vs. Awesome Kong vs. Gail Kim: This wasn’t a lengthy match, but it was action packed. After she was unable to beat Kong with the Cutter, Terrell was caught with a top rope Powerbomb from Kim, but used the School Boy for the surprise win.
No DQ: Matt Hardy vs. James Storm w/Manik, The Great Sanada, Khoya and Abyss: Hardy beat on Storm and the Revolution, but thanks to a pair of Last Calls and a Mist from Sanada, Storm got the win, setting up the grudge match this week with Jeff Hardy.
TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Lashley vs. Kurt Angle: This was a war- a 25-minute offense-fest that saw Angle fit five German Suplexes in a row and Lashley using every move in his book. Angle showed a ton of fortitude, kicking out of a massive Spear, but Lashley missing a rare Splash from the top rope. However, Lashley then applied Angle’s Ankle Lock and nearly got the win before Angle reached for the rope. After he kicked out of the Angle Slam, Lashley locked in an Arm Bar, but again, Angle escaped and latched on the Ankle Lock, grapvining the leg in the center of the ring for the win.
