Easily one of the best episodes of Impact Wrestling in years, the crowning of new X-Division and World Heavyweight Champions and a slew of wonderful matches ensured that you kept your eyes glued to the screen for the entirety of the show.
Check out this week’s Impact Wrestling Power Rankings to see who else starred in what has the potential of being a huge momentum turning for the fledgling wrestling promotion.
Honorable Mention: Magnus: Holy crap did Magnus and Mickie James beat the crap out of Bram. Delivering a massive Powerbomb on the entrance ramp, Magnus made a huge statement, quite possibly his biggest moment since losing the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.
5: Rockstar Spud: The new X-Division Champion, the new-look Spud captured the title from the shocked and frazzled Low-Ki this past week on Impact. One of the most endearing characters on the show, it’ll be interesting where Spud takes the almost-forgotten X-Division from here on out.
4: Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards: In an awesome opening bout against two solid tag teams, The Wolves retained their titles, thanks to a plethora of athleticism and a slew of effective double team maneuvers. Arguably the best tag team in the world today, all the Wolves need to truly cement that notion is more promo time. While they are great performers, they have yet to get into a memorable feud or become characters the fans can’t live without.
3: Taryn Terrell: Beating both Gail Kim and Awesome Kong this past week on Impact, Terrell is quickly carving a niche for herself in the Knockouts Division. Beautiful and tough as nails, Terrell continues to get better every week.
2: Bobby Lashley: The most dominant champion in TNA history is no more. Although he was at his near-best this past week on Impact, Lashley tapped out to the resilient Kurt Angle. What’s next for Lashley?
1: Kurt Angle: No one thought Angle would have a chance against Lashley, but the talented veteran got the win with his trademark Ankle Lock, beginning what has to be a brand new era in TNA.
