With only four matches, the majority of them filler, this week’s Impact felt more like a house show than anything worthy of TV time. For the second straight week, Impact lost its focus, paying minuscule attention to the other angles outside of the Lashley/BDC, which made the rest of the show feel like a waste of time. With no X-Division or Tag Team title defenses as well, there was little reason to tune in this week.
Matches:
Ethan Carter III and Tyrus vs. Rockstar Spud and Mr. Anderson: A decent match that had the crowd chanting for the England-native Spud. Although ECIII and Tyrus were solid as a team, the veteran polish of Anderson and the spunky Spud were too much. ECIII was forced to watch as Spud hit the Acid Drop and on Tyrus and Anderson finished him off with the Mic Check.
Robbie E and Angelina Love w/ Zema Ion and Jessie Godderz vs. Brooke Tessmacher and Chris Melendez: A waste of a match that saw E got the winner after he pushed Tessmacher off the top rope. While Melendez got some offense in, it was a pretty standard, no frills encounter.
Austin Aries vs. Samoa Joe: Aries couldn’t get the win with the Last Chancery thanks to interference from Kenny King, but after Aries took out the garbage, he hit Joe with the Crucifix Bomb and the 450 to get the win. After the match Low-Ki hit the ring and Joe Latched on the Rear-Naked Choke before Ki almost put Aries through a table with the Warrior’s Way (Joe ended up finishing the job with the Senton.).
MVP w/Samoa Joe, Low-Ki and Kenny King vs. TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Lashley: Interference form the entire BDC, as well as Eric Young couldn’t help MVP get the win. Even after the Play of the Day, Lashley was still in the match. After Drew Galloway took out MVP with the Dropkick, Lashley hit the Spear for the win.
