With a new #1 contender for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, new Tag Team Champions and several feuds in the mid-card, this past week’s Impact Wrestling was a solid episode that will give the company some momentum moving forward.
Regardless, with many of the same faces on the card as usual, it was nice to see Drew Galloway get some promo and in-ring time. If TNA is ever going to be more than a “Big Indie,†they’ll have to continue to spice up their cards and give some of the fresh faces an expanded role.
Nothing against Kurt Angle, but who really wants to see him with the title again?
Matches:
Kenny King w/MVP, Low-Ki and Samoa Joe vs. Drew Galloway: King brought the offense to Galloway and got much-needed help from the Beat Down Clan after the match, but Galloway was able to earn his first win in TNA thanks to the Future Shock DDT after he successfully countered King’s Finisher.
Bram vs. Matt Hardy: Bram was vigilant, kicking out of the Moonsault and Side Effect, eventually getting the win with the Impaler DDT, or what Bram likes to call the Brighter Side of Suffering.
Awesome Kong vs. Knockouts Champion Taryn Terrell: These two were literally at a stand-still, as neither one could land their finisher. Although Kong got DQed for her actions outside the ring and gave Terrell the win, you can’t like the Champion’s chances moving forward.
Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards vs. TNA Tag Team Champions James Storm and Abyss w/Sanada, Manik and Khoya: Edwards not only kicked out of the Eye of the Storm and the Last Call, but he avoided a Sanada Mist and following a Matt Hardy Twist of Fate, hit the Hammer of the Gods with Richards to earn the win.
#1 Contender’s Match: Eric Young vs. Bobby Roode vs. Kurt Angle: This was Angle’s match. Ten German Suplexes to Young and the Olympic Slam to Roode, following a chair shot from Young earned Angle the win. Regardless, Young and Roode also delivered a ton of offense, making for a more than solid main event.
