With the return of Homicide and the first vignette for Jade and Marti Bell, as well as a decent card that included TNA World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle, the last episode of Impact Wrestling was a solid one that made good use of several key performers.
With the seeds being planted for the upcoming TNA Tag Team Tournament, thanks to the Hardy Boys and Ethan Carter III, as well as the feud between The Beat Down Clan and The Rising picking up steam, this week’s Impact had few filler moments. While most of the action was run of the mill and lacking that “sizzle†needed to make it special, it was a building block episode that makes you think the show has some decent momentum moving forward.
Matches:
#1 Contender’s Knockout Match: Awesome Kong vs. Gail Kim: Kong got the win with a wicked Sit-Out Powerbomb, but Kim fought every step of the way, hitting Kong with the Eat Defeat and a plethora of strikes.
Winner gets opportunity to tag with James Storm in Tag Team Tournament: Abyss vs. Manik vs. Khoya: Manik and Abyss did most of the heavy lifting, but Khoya, who got smacked around by James Storm on the outside, got the win on Manik with the Sky High.
Drew Galloway, Micah and Eli Drake vs. MVP, Low-Ki and Kenny King: Drake and Micah used their athletic ability to get the advantage, but the returning Homicide hit the ring to get the match thrown out.
Davey Richards vs. Zema Ion: A good back and forth X-Division match that saw Richards get the win with Spinning Buzzsaw Kick he calls the Creeping Death.
TNA World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle vs. Eric Young vs. Bobby Lashley: Young took out Lashley thanks to a chair wedged in-between the turnbuckle, but Angle hit an Angle Slam on both of his opponents. Rather than go for the win, Angle hit the Moonsault on Lashley’s already busted leg for the win. After the win, EY nailed Lashley with a chair on his leg and latched on the Figure-Four.
