Four solid matches and the end of a few feuds make this past week’s Impact Wrestling one that was more about building towards the future.
While it wasn’t the best show the promotion has put on since it got on Destination America, it’s one that sets the scene for some exciting new match-ups.
Matches:
Submission: Eric Young vs. Bobby Roode: A tough match that saw both competitors beat on each other, with Roode hitting signature offense as well as the Crossface and Crab, while Young worked on Roode’s knee on the outside and hit a ton of strikes. After Young couldn’t get Roode to submit to the Figure Four, Roode got Young to submit to the Crossface, but the referee had something in his eyes and didn’t see it. Once he escaped, Young switched his brace around to apply more pressure and then got Roode to submit to the Figure Four.
Gail Kim vs. Angelina Love: A solid Knockouts match that saw Kim fight hard, but Love was extra solid with counters and the Botox Injection. But in typical Kim fashion, she hit the Eat Defeat out of nowhere for the win.
Bram vs. Magnus: This match had a little bit of everything, weapons, interference (James Storm got Mickie James out of harms way ironically.) and a ton of near-falls. Magnus eventually got the win with Two Powerbombs an the Urinage Suplex.
TNA World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle vs. Bobby Lashley: This was an epic, with finishers galore and plenty of kick-outs. At the same time, it sucks to see Lashley toned down after being so dominating for so long. After Angle got Lashley in the Ankle Lock following the Olympic Slam, Lashley was able to roll through and keep the match going. Working on Angle on the outside, Lashley got an advantage, hitting a Vertical Suplex and a Spear, but Angle kicked out. Angle then hit the top rope Olympic Slam, but Lashley kicked out. A segment later, Lashley locked in the Ankle Lock, but Angle countered into a Rollup (which a video replay later showed that LAshley’s shoulder wasn’t pinned) for the win.
