Lame would be the perfect word to describe this week’s Monday Night RAW. Rather than let Randy Orton get over with the crowd, WWE Creative had Ryback and Roman Reigns get in the mix, creating a mess of a main event and a storyline no one cares about.
With just a few weeks before Extreme Rules, the WWE has an uphill battle if they want to put a decent event together.
While the mid-card looks solid, with a few intriguing additions, thanks to NXT, new WWE Champion Seth Rollins isn’t being allowed to run with the ball, while Orton isn’t even on the field in goal line situations.
Matches:
Kane vs. Randy Orton: Both competitors hit their normal assortment of moves in a decent, but slow-paced match. Kane got DQed after he hit Orton with a chair. After the bell, Kane dodged an RKO.
WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins w/Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury vs. Adrian Neville: With high-flying maneuvers and plenty of strikes, Neville more than held his own against Rollins and avoided the nonsense of J & J security early on. At the same time, Rollins kept the pressure on with constant offense and pin-fall attempts. Obviously frustrated, Rollins began to slap Nevile around, but after he countered the Turnbuckle Powerbomb, Neville went for the Red Arrow, but Noble interfered, allowing Rollins to hit the Turnbuckle Powerbomb and the Curb Stomp for the win. After the match, Rollins hit the maneuver again on the beaten Neville.
United States Champion John Cena vs. Stardust: A counter-filled match with plenty of near-falls for both competitors. Although Stardust almost won with the Cross-Roads, Cena hit a springboard Stunner and finished off Stardust with the Attitude Adjustment.
Divas Champion Nikki Bella and Brie Bella vs. Paige and Naomi: A songfest that was a poor way to showcase Paige and Naomi as adequate challenger’s to Nikki’s Divas title. After Naomi hit the Rear View on Nikki, Paige took out Brie and allowed Naomi to hit the Head Scissor Spike on Nikki for the win.
Luke Harper vs. Ryback: Harper was tough, but Ryback got the win thanks to the Shell-Shocked after Harper missed a move in the corner.
Roman Reigns vs. The Big Show: The Big Show beat on Reigns, but the youngster fought back with strikes and eventually got the win with the Spear.
Sheamus vs. Mark Henry: Disgusting isn’t the word. In a poorly-paced debacle, Sheamus got the win with the Brogue Kick.
The Miz vs. Damien Sandow: The Miz got the win in a waste of a match that did nothing to advance or end their feud.
For Shot at WWE World Heavyweight Title at Extreme Rules: Roman Reigns vs. Ryback vs. Randy Orton: A good match with plenty of offense until The Authority got involved and made a mess of things. After Ryback and Reigns did most of the damage, Orton hit the RKO for the win. After the win, Rollins nailed Orton with a Curb Stomp.
