Hell’s Kitchen Coverage: Marti Gras or Pirate Fun?

Show off your school pride fellow viewer because “Hell’s Kitchen” is holding a good old homecoming. Just be sure they don’t burn the place down.

At the start of the episode, Ramsay called the chefs, telling them they’re needed in the dining room urgently. When they got there they were greeted by a high school pep rally. Band, mascot and all. Michelle was the most excited because she graduated high school four years ago.

Calabasas High School was going to have their homecoming at “Hell’s Kitchen.” The challenge for the day was to create a tasting menu consisting of one seafood appetizers (T with Alison and Milly,) one chicken entrée (Meghan and Randy) and one beef entrée (Michelle and Nick with Josh.) It also had to Cajun inspired.

To pick the winners were three members of the Calabasas homecoming committee. The most amazing thing here was Max spoke like he was an actual chef. He was the only one who nitpicked every dish. Ramsay even asked him how many Michelin stars he had. The dishes themselves did pretty well, but the Blue once again one it 2-1.

The Blue’s reward was a homecoming committee choice. Their choice was “Pirates Dinner Adventure.” Leave it up to a bunch of teenagers to choose something like that. The Blue did have a blast though, especially Randy.

The Red, on the other hand, spent the day rearranging the dining room and making Marti Gras beads. As usual for this show, the people in charge of how they want the dining room to look like were really bossy. Not to mention they constantly changed their minds about where they wanted tables. This was also where T and Michelle’s feud started up again. Michelle kept saying “T did you hear that?” T even gave her a piece of her mind.

At dinner service, you’d expect this type of service to be a disaster. Despite some flops, it went pretty well.

T started things off for the Red by dropping butter on the flat top and almost causing a major fire. Michelle took a bit longer than usual to bring up sliders. Alison tried to help her, but Michelle being Michelle refused it. Alison decided to take the helm by barking orders. That also included saying “all day” a whole lot. It got annoying all day.

In the Blue, Josh started things off by putting too much wine in a risotto. Ramsay had to even tell him that this was for an underage person. Milly would then bring up Cappellini with a few pieces still crunchy. How any chef would miss that is a mystery. He also did not turn the flat top on despite him saying it is on. Those things take a while to get hot. That was apparent when he brought up raw snapper. Later, the gravy for Randy’s chicken fried steak was missing lobster. Ramsay even said one of the most creative insults ever on this shoe, “*bleep* your knickers.”

Both teams finished dinner service. However, the weakest team was the Blue. They chose Josh and Randy. Josh thought he was eliminated, but was instead put on the Red. Meghan is now on the Blue.

Putting Josh on the Red and Meghan on the Blue was a smart move on Ramsay. Both chefs are not doing all that well and maybe a change of teams will help out. Sometimes this works, sometimes it backfires. This change should cause some interesting results in the next few episodes.
