Hell’s Kitchen Recap: Crocky

This episode of “Hell’s Kitchen” is full all the creepy crawly things that other countries consider delicacies. These chefs call them disgusting. Also, someone was in danger of leaving early.

This episode started with Ramsay giving the chefs a pretty scary (and for some disgusting) surprise. There were fish tanks that had rats, a snake, an iguana, scorpions and a tarantula. The chefs’ reactions were absolutely priceless. Obviously they were not thrilled to see these animals. Meghan had the worst; she hates snakes.

Ramsay explained that these animals are delicacies in other countries. He also said that there should be two snakes instead of one. This is an old trick and, as expected, a fake snake fell from the ceiling. And then a few more fell from the ceiling.

Moving on, the day’s challenge was to cook a dish using exotic proteins. Not the ones in the tanks, though. They were: ostrich (Randy and Christine,) alligator (T, Michelle and Milly,) Wild boar (Joshua and Meghan) and elk (Allison and Nick.)

The red had to choose between T’s and Michelle’s alligator and they chose T’s.

Once again, there were guest judges at tasting. They were chef/owners of “Animal” John Shook and Vinny Dotolo. The average grades from each judge were twos and threes. Most of the dishes were “bland” or “safe.” The score was 33-22 Red when it came down Randy’s ostrich burger. He won it for the Blue with a final score of 34-33.

Of course, the judges tried Michelle’s alligator curry just to see how it is. Sure enough, as is usual with these things, her dish scored a perfect 15.

The Blue’s reward was a day at “Lounge Spa.” Everyone except Randy had a good time. Randy apparently does not like spas. He does come across as the type of person who does not like being pampered.

The Red, on the other hand, spent the day giving “Hell’s Kitchen” a deep clean. When Ramsay said deep, he meant deep. As in rubber gloves deep. Lunch time came along and it was milkshakes. Of course, since this is “Hell’s Kitchen,” these milkshakes had the proteins that were used in the day’s challenge. This time, however, one of them was a normal milkshake. Michelle got the normal one. She’s got lucky throughout this entire episode, huh? Allison had the worst throw up in the entire history of the show. We were able to see huge milky chunks of what she ate.

This episode was evaluation time. That meant that each chef was called one by one to Ramsay’s office for an evaluation and to ask who they thought was the weakest chef. The Red said Christine and the Blue said Randy.

Both of these chefs had to compete in one a challenge where they had to cook a lobster risotto, a halibut and a bread putting. The loser of the challenge got sent home. These types of challenges are usually tense and show of how a chef cooks by themselves.

Both Randy and Michelle did OK for the most part. Michelle did make her own creme Anglaise despite Ramsay already making it. It was dry. She also messed up on cutting the lobster and did not put the confit in the risotto. Randy’s mistakes were he did not plate the halibut properly and his bread pudding needed more creme Anglaise.

With all that in mind, Michelle lost the challenge and was sent home.

Michelle was finally eliminated, and all it took was for an individual challenge. Randy is in no way, shape or form, the worst chef on the Blue. Joshua and Nick are worse. Right now, anything can happen in this competition. This season’s drama is still pretty low which is why this season is still enjoyable.
