If not for Kevin Owens’ solid promo to start the show, this week’s episode of NXT would have been passable. With no Hideo Itami and Sami Zayn, NXT needs guys to step it up in the ring and with Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady not on this week’s show, there was a level of charisma missing as well.
While the main event of Owens and Solomon Crowe made up for things somewhat, this wasn’t a memorable episode of NXT.
Matches:
Emma vs. Bayley w/Dana Brooke: Bayley got in a few shots, but Emma won cleanly with the Emma Lock. After the match, Brooke and Emma beat on Bayley until Charlotte Flair made the save. However, after Flair got in a few licks, Brooke nailed Flair with the modified Death Valley Driver.
Mike Rollis and Elias Sampson vs. NXT Tag Team Champions Blake and Murphy w/Alexa Bliss: Sampson looked good, hitting a nice Dropkick, but Murphy hit the Vertical Suplex, allowing Blake to hit the Frog Splash for the win. After the match, Murphy took out Rollis and Bliss then hit her Sparkle Splash Moonsault on him to finish him off.
Tye Dillinger vs. Finn Balor: Dillinger did the job well, as Balor hit the corner Dropkick, the Sling Blade and Double Stomp from the top rope for the easy win.
NXT Champion Kevin Owens vs. Solomon Crowe: Owens dominated until Crowe got in a few strikes to get the crowd into the match. But after a running Knee in the corner from Crowe, Owens hit the Senton and then the Pop-Up Powerbomb for the win. After the match, Owens went for the Powerbomb on the ring apron again, but Samoa Joe made the save.
