Warriors of Wrestling Full Throttle Review: Riley Rules

The 2015 Warriors of Wrestling return to the Staten Island Fun Station was the satisfying Full Throttle event. The show lived up to its name and kept the momentum from last month’s show rolling with another fast-paced and adrenaline-pumping event. The main event featured another former WWE superstar and recent 2015 Hall of Fame inductee Rikishi in a four-on-three handicap tag match. The talented roster of performers fed off the energy from the rocking crowd to put on another exciting show and leaving the fans anxious for the next show in June.

Matches:

Rude Boy Riley vs. Juba: Jack Gallow came out with Juba and announced that his partner Jason Kross was injured so he wouldn’t be able to defend his title against Rude Boy Riley. An angered Riley came out and explained how Gallow hasn’t been the same wrestler he once was since winning the title and basically can’t win without Kross. Gallow furious with those remarks stated that if Riley could beat Juba one on one, him and Riley would have a title match later in the night.

Riley came out hot with an unexpected drop kick that sent Juba into Gallow who was standing on the apron. Riley hit Juba with an enzeguri which sent Juba to the outside which Riley followed with a suicide dive onto Juba and Gallow. Once both men were back in the ring, Riley used an arsenal of speedy maneuvers on Juba, but Juba was able to use his 6 foot 5 inch, three hundred plus pound size and power to gain control. Late in the match Joey B came out to keep Gallow from interfering once Riley had gained momentum. Riley was able to use a running Knee Strike to the face of Juba to win by pinfall allowing him the opportunity to face Gallow later in the night.

Hash Brown vs. Jason Nevins: Nevins who lost last month to J George, came into this one looking to rebound from that defeat. Brown and Nevins put on a back and forth evenly contested match which Nevins won via a Tornado DDT from the corner.

J George vs. Chris Payne: For the past three month’s George has been putting on display his improving technical and chain wrestling skills, showing that he can do more than just talk. Payne had control early with a series of hip tosses that sent George to retreat to the outside. When Payne went out after, George was able to reverse an Irish whip that sent Payne into the ring post injuring his arm. Once Payne got back into the ring, George continued to work on that now injured arm. Payne was able to battle back after he became enraged from a disrespectful slap to his face by George. While Payne was assaulting George with a flurry of hard right hands in the corner, the ref stepped in to break it up. At that moment, George rocked Payne with a marker sized illegal object to the head which allowed him to pick up the win via pinfall.

Macintosh vs. Logan Black vs. Joey Ace (No Limits Title match): The No Limits title matches never seem to fall short of action, which this one had plenty of. Each participant put on an impressive display of athleticism in what will be considered as one of Warriors of Wrestling’s best matches of the year by years end. The match was full of highlights from Black’s counter of Ace’s Suicide Dive with an elbow strike to Macintosh’s Frankensteiner on Ace from the corner which he followed immediately with a German Suplex on Black. The match was like watching a three-way dream match of Rob Van Dam, Chris Jericho and Samoa Joe in their prime. The match ended when Black delivered a tombstone to Macintosh, but when Black went to cover Macintosh, Ace hit Black on the back of the neck with the Savage Elbow drop and made the pin himself.

Michael Massacre vs. Chris Steeler: Massacre who had been calling himself “Chris Steeler” since January, came out and stated he issued a challenge to an unknown masked wrestler from the Warriors of Wrestling training center. Once the challenger got to the ring, Massacre spat in the masked man’s face who then revealed himself to be the real Chris Steeler. Steeler leveled Massacre with a series of strikes and sent him to outside. On the outside, Steeler continued his beat down using a steel chair until Massacre used a low blow to stop Steelers assault. Massacre then sprayed Steeler in the eyes with what appeared to be hair spray and tossed him back into the ring. Once inside, Massacre rocked Steeler with a Super Kick and pinned him for the win. Following the loss, Steeler decided to send a challenge to Massacre in a Street Fight at next month’s show.

Riley vs. Jack Gallow ( WOW Heavyweight championship match): Gallow came into this match to show why he was the current Warriors of Wrestling Heavyweight champion and that even without Kross in attendance he could hold his own. Gallow completely dominated Riley in Brock Lesnar like fashion with Suplex after Suplex, hard Knee Strikes and Clotheslines. Riley stayed resilient to the tough beating he was taking, even holding on from tapping out from the Triangle Hold until he was able to power out of the submission maneuver. Riley shortly after powering out Riley hit Gallow with the Lights Out which he followed up with a running Knee Strike to the face and pinned Gallow to become the new Warriors of Wrestling Heavyweight champion.

Style and Finesse vs. Rican Hate Club (Dan Maff and Havoc) vs. EYFBO (Mike Draztik and Angel Ortiz) (WOW Tag Title match) Ladder match: After last months show which saw the war between the Rican Hate Club and EYFBO escalate to another level, Style & Finesse refusing to become collateral damage, got themselves involved with the feud by stopping Maff from attacking EYFBO, thus setting up a three-way ladder match for the Tag Team Titles. The match was an all out brawl in which Maff and Havoc were able to flex their strength and raw power, but EYFBO and Style & Finesse were still able to show off their speed and athleticism. The chemistry between all six men really benefitted the match, which ended when Style and Finesse retrieved the tag titles after Draztik used his body to frog splash Maff through a table on the outside while the other two participants were incapacitated. After the match, EYFBO went to hand over their titles to S&F out of respect but S&F unexpectedly attacked the now former champions setting up a new feud between the two teams.

Hostile Collective (Darius Carter, Naphtali Rodriguez, John Cannon and Abdul Nasir w/ Harley) vs. Rikishi, TJ Marconi and Jesse Brooks: Once again WOW closed out their show with another exciting crowd-pleasing main event. Marconi, Brooks, and Rikishi all started out hot taking turns dominating the Hostile Collective. It wasn’t until midway though the match that the a Hostile Collective was able to get some control by using heel tactics to take down Marconi and isolate Brooks. The Collective looked like they would get the win, but Brooks was able to make a hot tag bring in Rikishi who single-handedly took out each member of the Collective until he was able to get Carter in the corner for the Stink Face. Following the Stink Face, Rikishi hit Rodriguez with the Samoan Spike then the Bonzi Drop to win by pinfall.
