Hell’s Kitchen Recap: Two Left

The final four prove to Ramsay that they are worthy of being in the final in an all new episode of “Hell’s Kitchen.”

As with many penultimate episodes of “Hell’s Kitchen”, the chefs were taken to a supermarket for their next challenge. Here Ramsay came up with another first: the chefs had to shop for and make a vegetarian dish. Everyone had an idea as what they wanted to make except Meghan. She employed the “grab everything and pray it works well” strategy.

Also, T said she was a “certified meatatarian.” There are a lot more of those than vegetarians.

T made a chicken and dumplings using tofu, Milly made a ricotta and spinach soufflé, Meghan made zucchini angel hair pasta and Michelle made a dish that was overly complicated. Basically an egg soufflé with other ingredients and made more complicated. Ramsay even told her “you don’t like the word simple, do you?”

In what can be described as close to a miracle, Meghan finally won a challenge. Her nine loss streak was finally over. That has to be a “Hell’s Kitchen” record. Her reward was parasailing in Newport Beach and lunch at “Studio” at the Montage. She decided to take T with her. Again, here are two people who say they’re afraid of heights yet they enjoyed parasailing. It’s pretty amazing what winning a challenge does to someone.

Michelle and Milly on the other hand spent the day cleaning inside and out. Not much needs to be said here except Milly thought the punishment would end once they got their black jackets.

Before dinner service, Ramsay surprised the chefs by having them be reunited with their families. After that, it was time for dinner service and for the chefs to each take turns up at the pass. That also mean Ramsay would test them by having Sous Chef Andi make mistakes. This went pretty well for the most part.

Milly was up first. He failed to detect there was crab instead of lobster in the risotto. It’s understandable in that crab and lobster taste similar. He did make up for it by seeing that there were no mussels in the shells.

On Meghan’s turn Milly made a soupy risotto. He shouldn’t be doing that at this point. She failed to spot the halibut was replaced by sea bass. Ramsay even told her she’s cooked hundreds of halibuts. It’s amazing how she still can’t tell the difference.

At Michelle’s turn she thought broccoli was the cauliflower garnish. T took a bit too long to cook Wellingtons, which backed up the kitchen somewhat.

Finally, T was up. She noticed that the beef Wellington was actually lamb, meaning she was the only one who passed this test.

In all, they all did very well at the pass. Of course, Ramsay can only have two chefs in the final. He asked each chef who they thought did not deserve to be in the final. The answers were not a surprise at all. Milly said Michelle, Michelle said T, T said Milly and Meghan said, Michelle and Milly. The first to get eliminated was Milly, followed by Michelle.

The final two chefs are a sort of surprise. Meghan did have a chance, but Michelle getting eliminated is surprising. She had a ton of prowess and was a sort of wild card. Milly could’ve made it if he didn’t mess up in the past few episodes. T and Meghan should prove to be an interesting final.
