From Justin “Thunder†Liger to the Bullet Club, this week’s episode of ROH featured a hearty-helping of solid wrestling action that proves the promotion can wrestle with any other company in the world.
Check out this week’s Ring of Honor Power Rankings to see who else appeared in a much better episode of ROH, but one that continues to prove the promotion has some early growing pains.
Honorable Mention: Bob Evans: He may not have the best look, but “Brutal†took out his former tag team partner Cheeseburger with a vicious Sideslip through a table this week to send a big time message.
5: Dalton Castle: Not many people can have the type of match Castle had this week with Justin “Thunder†Liger. While Liger can make anyone look good, Castle thrived at times and had the crowd in the palm of his hands. While his gimmick is unorthodox and may not work in the WWE, he’s a guy that can be a huge force in ROH if given an opportunity.
4: The Addiction: Christopher Daniels and Frank Kazarian put Kyle O’Reilly over big time this week as one-half of Red Dragon put it to the Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champions- of the world, big time. At the end of the day, however, Kaz and Daniels are still champions and don’t look to be in a position any time soon to give them up. One of the best teams in the world today, they instantly make ROH a better show when they’re on it.
3: Mark Briscoe: He’s wild and somewhat wacky, but it’s impossible to deny the in-ring prowess of Briscoe. His matchup with Donovan Dijak at Best in the World will be a good one for him, but one that will help Dijak get over even more as a powerhouse.
2: The Bullet Club: Making their American TV debut, Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows were stellar, even in defeat. One of the most popular factions in the past decade, they may be considered an nWo clone to some, but they continue to have great technical matches, something the New World Order can’t really make a claim to.
1: Jay Briscoe/Jay Lethal: With their contract signing set for next week, The ROH World Heavyweight Champion and TV Champion are set for what will be one of the most important contests in ROH history.
