The Briscoe Brothers continued their feud with The House of Truth on the debut episode of Ring of Honor on Destination America and although the show was far from stellar, there was enough solid wrestling action to get you to tune in next week.
Check out this week’s Ring of Honor Power Rankings to see who the stars of this promotion really are.
Honorable Mention: Kushida: Although it wasn’t exactly Justin Liger vs. Brian Pillman, Kushida’s matchup with Will Ferrara was a decent one that let new fans know that good wrestling was going to be an essential part of the first ROH episode on Destination America and how many others followed.
5: The Addiction: Christopher Daniels and Frank Kazarian were stalwarts in TNA for nearly a decade and they are easily one of the best Tag Teams in professional wrestling today and a charismatic and integral part of Ring of Honor. All set for a defense of their Tag Team titles against Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish, The Addiction have told the young team they’ll only get one shot.
4: Silas Young: His win over Watanabe this week on Destination America proves he’s one of the top mid-carders in the promotion. With an awesome finishing move and the grizzled Magnum TA look, he’s worth keeping an eye on.
3: The Moose: He’s got that former NFLer pedigree and it’s hard to deny his strength. But beating an 18-year-old isn’t exactly the best ay to get over. Similarly to Baron Corbin in NXT, Moose isn’t going to truly establish himself until he has a few more real matches.
2: Jay Lethal: He was ringside talking smack during the promotion’s debut show on Destination America because it’s one of the things he does best. For those who haven’t seen him in the ring, don’t fear- he’s one of the most skilled performers in the promotion and a guy that has made the ROH TV Title one of the most important in the industry today.
1: Jay Briscoe: In the brand’s debut on Destination America, Briscoe proved he was the “man,†by taking out TV Champion Jay Lethal and with help from his brother Mark, both J. Diesel and Dijak. But can he hold his own with Lethal in a singles match, with the House of Truth looming? We’ll see at Best in the World.
