Setting up the matches for Destination X was what this past week’s Impact was supposed to do, but instead, there were a slew of meaningless matches and instead foundation building for Kurt Angle’s next batch of feuds over the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.
While Rockstar Spud will challenge for Angle’s title, while Austin Aries told the crowd he will cash in his Feast or Fired briefcase and face the winner, what about the other matches on the card?
There used to be a time when the X-Division used to mean something, but now all it is is seen as is something to trade a World Title shot for.
While not a terrible show, as guys like Ethan Carter III and Rockstar Spud made tremendous strides, it didn’t accomplish enough of its goals to get us excited for Destination X.
Matches:
Bobby Lashley vs. Eric Young: A decent match, but nothing special. Lashley got the win with the Spear, following Chris Melendez’ “interference†while Young was setting up Lashley for the Piledriver.
Jade w/Marti Bell vs. Brooke Tessmacher: The Dollhouse used double-teams to keep Brooke on her toes, but after she took out Bell, Brooke got the win with the Belly-to-Back Front Slam.
Low-Ki, MVP and Kenny King vs. Drew Galloway, Micah and Eli Drake: The crowd got into this grudge match and it was filled with offense. After Micah took out King on the outside, Galloway hit a Belly-to-Belly from the Tree of Woe and Drake and Galloway hit the Doomsday Device on Low-Ki for the win.
Best of Five for TNA Tag Team Titles: Matches Three: Austin Aries and Bobby Roode vs. Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards: An awesome match with plenty of offense that the Wolves should have won on several occasions, thanks to a ton of super effective double-team maneuvers. However, after a low-blow and a steel chair shot, Roode got the win for his team.
Tyrus and Ethan Carter III vs. TNA World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle and Rockstar Spud: ECIII and Tyrus were solid, but Spud’s speed allowed Angle to nail Tyrus with the Angle Slam for the win.
