TNA Impact Wrestling Coverage: The Best of the Wednesday Shows, This Week

Everyone’s talking about how TNA’s ratings are down, but this past week’s episode of Impact was the best of the three shows that air on Wednesday.

Thanks to three X-Division matches, two TNA World Heavyweight title matches and drama in the Knockouts Division, this week’s episode of Impact was the most complete of all of the competition on Wednesday night.

Matches:

TNA World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle vs. Rockstar Spud: Angle literally Suplexed the hell out of Spud, but the little guy fought back with punches and kicks and even put Angle down a few times. Using speed and a top rope Somersault Plancha, Spud stayed in this match a lot longer than anyone expected. Spud then rolled out of the Ankle Lock and after a series of counters, Spud nearly won with the Underdog. But before he could hit another big move, Angle locked in the Ankle Log again and grapevine the leg for the submission win.

Shot for X-Division Title Match One Low-Ki vs. Manik vs. Crazy Steve: Ki took out both Manik and Steve with the Turnbuckle Dropkick and then beat Manik with the Warrior’s Way.

Shot for X-Division Title Match Two: Tigre Uno vs. Zema Ion vs. Mandrews: After he pushed Ion off the top rope, Uno hit the Corkscrew 450 for the win. After the bell, Jessie Godderz took out Zema Ion with strikes and a Turnbuckle Powerbomb.

Shot for X-Division Title Match Three: Cruz vs. Grado vs. Kenny King: Grado got the win with the Cannonball in the corner after King’s confidence got the best of him.

Crimson vs. Bram: Crimson was in control and nearly won with the Rings of Saturn, but after a bite and his Impaler DDT, Bram got the win.

TNA World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle vs. Austin Aries: A lengthy match that saw Aries hit Angle with everything from the Last Chancery and the Brainbuster to the 450, but Angle wouldn’t stay down. After Aries used the Ankle Lock, Angle countered into an Ankle Lock of his own, but Aries sent him to the outside and then missed the Suicide Dive. After Aries countered the Angle Slam, Angle latched on the Ankle Lock again for the submission victory. After the match, Carter took out Angle.
