Another beefy card, but more substance and style than in previous weeks ensured that this week’s RAW was far from a waste of time. With plenty of drama in every title division and more time paid to develop each one, RAW, for the first time in a while, felt like it had some purpose.
Check out this week’s RAW Power Rankings to see who has the potential to do some serious damage once the Battleground PPV card is set in a few weeks.
Honorable Mention: Bray Wyatt: His game with Roman Reigns is getting dangerous, but that’s exactly the way Wyatt likes it. A mainstay of the WWE mid-card since his arrival, Wyatt has consistently found a way to make the middle of RAW entertaining. His game of tea with Reigns this week was no exception.
5: Dean Ambrose: His feud with Kane is a bit boring, but Ambrose is still a top young star in the WWE and a guy that will have singles gold around his waist again at some point. You don’t wrestle for the title in the WWE and vanish, ask Jack Swagger. Although he’s come up short a few times, he’s a talent in the ring and on the mic and just like a guy such as Cesaro, it’s hard to keep him down for a long period of time.
4: The Prime Time Players: These guys are solid as a team, but Young continues to be the standout performer of the ground. He’s got singles star written all over him and while O’Neil is a powerhouse and charismatic as hell, the two have yet to show the WWE Universe why they are special together as a team. Regardless, they’re still one of the top teams in the WWE, especially with Cesaro and Tyson Kidd no longer tagging thanks to Kidd’s neck injury and The Lucha Dragons disappearing from TV.
3: Kevin Owens and John Cena: Their little back and forth this week was fun, but seeing them in the ring again is going to be where the real entertainment is going to occur. Make no mistake, with Owens hungry for a shot at Cena’s US title, you can bet they’ll be in the ring again soon.
2: Seth Rollins: He’s beginning to mend the fences he destroyed in The Authority and, as a result, he’ll be in the best place to retain his title against Brock Lesnar at Battleground. But even with the added help of The Authority, can Rollins survive a trip to Suplex City? Either way, this will end up as one of the most important matches in Rollins’ young WWE career.
1: Brock Lesnar: In the first 15 minutes of RAW, Lesnar, with only a few words was able to ensure that the WWE Universe had a reason to be excited this summer. Aided by the silver-tongued devil Paul Heyman, Lesnar is undoubtedly the top face on the WWE roster, in spite of the fact that he hasn’t wrestled in months.
