It was Sept. 24, 2012 when Dane Krams released the first quarter of his new game, “Anna’s Quest: Volume 1,†a dark-humored point and click adventure project he worked on while pursuing a Master’s degree at Queensland College of Technology. It received positive reviews from critics, and the plan was to use the money earned to fund the second volume.
But in March 2013, the game was no longer for sale.
“The first volume I released was getting great reviews, but sales were not catching on at all, and I was in no position to afford any proper marketing,†Krams told Krazed Gaming in an email interview.
Krams had discovered the horrors of promoting an independent game through a flooded market.
