With just two matches on the card this week and a small setup for the Jay Lethal Roderick Strong encounter at Death Before Dishonor, there wasn’t much to think about.
Check out this week’s Ring of Honor Power Rankings to see how the promotion has begun to lay the seeds for Death Before Dishonor.
Honorable Mention: reDRagon: These guys are a dynamic tag team with plenty of potential. Already former ROH Tag Team Champions, Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly are mid-card mainstays in ROH with nowhere to go but up.
5: Dalton Castle: His gimmick is just ridiculous, but the Ring of Honor faithful loves him. At the same time, there’s no doubting his skill in the ring and his match with New Japan’s Watanabe once again proved it. Could a guy like this make it in a bigger promotion? His charisma is undeniable, but you have to wonder if this same gimmick could ever work in the WWE.
4: Michael Elgin: This guy is a beast. Small, but strong as hell, he continues to prove just how dynamic he is.
3: The Kingdom: Returning Adam Cole faces an uphill battle in restoring the fences of the Kingdom, but its hard to deny the power the faction has between Cole’s pedigree and the Tag Team prowess of Taven and Bennett, as well as the sexiness of Kanellis. Can they keep it together?
2: Roderick Strong: Mr. ROH is loved by fans and is ready for his shot at Ring of Honor Champion Jay Lethal. Holding the best win-loss record in ROH this year, Strong is the biggest challenge Lethal faces and may be the most dynamic performer Lethal has faced in a while as well. Regardless of what happens at Death Before Dishonor, expect a lot of Backbreakers.
1: Jay Lethal: His win over Jay Briscoe gives him bragging rights as the new ROH Champion. With the House of Truth behind him, there’s no telling how long he’ll hold on to the title. Charismatic and passionate, Lethal is prepared to defend both the TV Title and ROH Championship and is swimming in uncharted waters, but isn’t afraid of anyone.
