Stone Cold Steve Austin Named ‘WWE 2K16’ Cover Star

Former WWE Champion “Stone Cold” Steve Austin will be the cover star of Yuke’s and Visual Concepts’ “WWE 2K16,” the game’s publisher, 2K Sports, confirmed in a press release obtained on Monday.

A star in both the squared-circle, as well as the big-screen and TV, Austin was one of the biggest draws in wrestling history during his time in the WWE during the mid-late 90s, during the sport’s “Attitude Era.” He was also a champion in several other promotions including World Championship Wrestling and ECW.

On the cover of several WWE video games over the years on the PlayStation and Nintendo 64, “WWE 2K16” marks the first time Austin is on the cover of a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One game.

“I’ve had the privilege of working with 2K to support the WWE 2K franchise, and now I’m absolutely honored to serve as the WWE 2K16 cover Superstar,” Stone Cold Steve Austin said in today’s press release. “No disrespect to the previous and extremely deserving WWE 2K cover Superstars – Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and John Cena – but it’s about time the franchise raised some hell with yours truly on the cover. I look forward to injecting a dose of ‘Texas Rattlesnake’ into this year’s game and overall campaign.”
