The Witcher Fox Children #4 Review: Decisions, Decisions

Killing someone before you understand their importance is seldom a good thing. And in the case of Paul Tobin’s “The Witcher: Fox Children” it may cost a crew their souls if they should be that lucky. Joe Querio’s accurate artwork brings this fourth installment of this comic a realistic touch to a supernatural storyline. The Witcher (a man who has harnessed his abilities and aids others) has a problem where the only way for this group of seamen to travel is through a river that snacks on the forest. Hopping from one catastrophe to another the Witcher and this crew barely survive.

The fast-paced storyline, told alongside spot on art compels you to continue reading. Then all at once the issue is over and you need to wait an entire month for the next and final installment. One of the several significant points made in this comic is the carelessness of mankind. Too many people, in this case, men, treat life with very little reverence. Lives matter and this well written story exemplify what happens when we have to deal with the repercussions of our apathetic actions.

Not giving a moment’s thought before committing a violent act endangers the characters in this tale unnecessarily and makes Witcher’s job infinitely more difficult.

What will happen next no doubt will be a compelling end to a miniseries based on the game and inspired by the fictional writings of Andrzej Sapkowski. Sapowski’s “Witcher” series is filled with an extraordinary world of moral ambiguity and monsters. The Witcher in this comic book series has been taught to slay these beasts.

In the case of this issue, he has to decide that the ones walking on two legs and the ones crawling on four may not be that different. So which will he slaughter and who will he save?
