TNA Impact Wrestling Coverage: Puzzling

Away from the shameless plugs of Destination America programming, this past week’s Impact Wrestling featured four solid matches and plenty of storyline development in the mid-card and promises for next week’s show.

However TNA World Heavyweight Champion Ethan Carter III was absent from the card, making you think what the current state of that title is. Why would the promotion leave their biggest star off the show for most of it, especially when he’s one of the most charismatic faces they have?

Matches:

Street Fight: Bram vs. Magnus: A run of the mill Streetlight that saw Bram get the win after a Low Blow and a Rollup. After the match, James Storm beat on Magnus with a cow bell and promised him things were about to get a heck of a lot worse.

Slammiversary Replay: Drew Galloway vs. Bobby Roode vs. Jeff Jarrett vs. Eric Young vs. Matt Hardy: A 30-plus minute match, it was nice to see this on Destination America, but it took up way too much of the regular show. If you missed it, Jarrett got the win after he hit The Stroke on Young on top of the Ladder.

Chain Match: Eric Young vs. Rockstar Spud: This was a pretty brutal match that saw the action go all over the place. Of course, Spud did the majority of the selling, and Young got the win with the Piledriver.

#1 Contender’s Table Match: Matt Hardy vs. Bobby Roode: Not a bad hardcore match for 10 minutes as Hardy and Roode beat on each other in a variety of ways. After the two countered their finishers, Hardy sent Roode out of the ring with a Back Body Drop, through a table to win a shot at the title.
