Review Fix Exclusive: Konstantin Elgazin Talks ’Troll Face Quest Unlucky’

Review Fix chats with Konstantin Elgazin, founder of thePPLLAAYY team, who discusses the company’s game, “Troll Face Quest Unlucky.” Breaking down the inspiration for the title, as well as its goals for the future, it’s obvious Elgazin is a hardcore gamer at heart who wants only to share his love with fellow gamers. Currently free on the App Store and Google Play, “Troll Face Quest Unlucky” is waiting to be downloaded.

Game Synopsis:

It’s a viral idea that traces its DNA all the way back to the insanely popular Troll Face rage-comic character. Troll Face Quest Unlucky takes gaming to the ultimate in trollishness. It’s about devious, mischievous pranks and dark tricks. Its riddles challenge even the sharpest four-flushed jokers. Play Troll Face Quest Unlucky and find out how quickly your luck runs out.

Review Fix: What was the inspiration for the game?

Konstantin Elgazin: The first thing was internet trolling and memes; I adore sarcasm and a good sense of humour. The second thing was an idea to make a game where the  obvious solution is always the wrong one. We looked at the point & click and adventure games and said – “Hey, why so serious? Why can’t we see stupid things, unexpected solutions? The game shouldn’t look like routine.”

Review Fix: Are there any games currently available that are comparable? Why?

Elgazin: There are a lot of point & click, adventure, puzzle, HOG games with comparable controls and gameplay; many beautiful masterpieces. But I can’t compare any of these games with Troll Face Quest series. It is a symbiosis of unique art and stupidly good levels. We try to keep the trolling quality high in all games in the series.

Review Fix: What did you play as a kid? How did they influence this game?

Elgazin: I was born the same year Tetris was released so I played it a lot when I was a kid. Tetris hardly trolled me with Z-bricks so this is my revenge.

Review Fix: What was the development process like? Any hurdles?

Elgazin: Development process is an infinite hurdle! Honestly speaking, the game is untypical in development; all the levels are unique, there is no unified structure at all, a lot of hard coded things. The hints engine was a kind of headache too. We decided to localised the game to 16 languages to go truly international and that was an interesting experience.

Review Fix: What are you most proud of when it comes to this game?

Elgazin: I am proud of the ‘letsplay videos’ of top youtubers, honestly! I love these guys, and always check out all video reviews. Some of them laugh like crazy (KuplinovPlay https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSAvWJsnujU) and some of them trying to keep serious (PewDiePie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0g_DF-XIcjE), and some of them are totally crazy guys (FrenanFloo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKFqZuVtwcU). Love them all.

Review Fix: What are your real goals for this game?

Elgazin: To keep it free, to produce more and more levels and to build up a Trolling Empire.

Review Fix: Bottom Line, what makes this game special?

Elgazin: Great reviews from our players and high ratings which are the best motivators for a developer. Ah I forgot the secret ingredient – a Trololololo
