With thousands of flicks and TV shows on Netflix, there’s something new to see every day. From B-Movie Slashers to informative documentaries, there’s literally something for everyone.
In this exclusive list, Review Fix Editor-In-Chief Patrick Hickey Jr. shares five flicks he’s eager to see on Netflix.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Regardless of how old you are, you know who the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are. With a fresh story and a new cast, “TMNT†was a huge success last summer, after years of buzz. With Michael Bay attached to the project, you can expect a ton of action and drama. With Megan Fox co-starring as April O’Neil as well, fans of another action romp, “The Transformers,†will have an old friend to invite them on the turtles’ newest adventure.
Hercules: Let’s face it, Dwayne “The Rock†Johnson is one of the biggest film stars, ever. He’s more than a wrestler at this point, he’s a cash machine. Taking on the role of the legendary Greek hero, Johnson, from the look of the trailer, kicks all types of rear. Featuring other talented film vets the likes of John Hurt and Rufus Sewell, we’re eager to experience the action. Hopefully, it stacks up to other fantasy pieces the likes of “300†and “Beowulf.â€
Need for Speed: If you liked Aaron Paul in “Breaking Bad,†you kind of have to see “Need for Speed.†So why haven’t we? There’s only so much time in the day and not being a mega huge success at the Box Office, it did make $203 million in 2014, it kind of got lost in the shuffle of several other films. In the vein of “The Fast and the Furious†series, “Need for Speed†also features Dominic Cooper and Michael Keaton, there’s definitely enough talent on the screen. If that’s not enough for you to sit down and give it a try, you’d have to be crazy to not dig the car chases and stunts.
Sharknado: We’ve all heard how bad this film is and many of us, myself included have seen it in drips and drabs, but just how bad is it? If a 3.3 rating on IMDB.com, with over 100 critic reviews, isn’t enough to convince you of the cheese factor here, it’s something you have to watch for yourself, at least once. The washed-up cast and lackluster writing has earned it almost cult status and an iPhone game, so it’s only a matter of time before we get a few friends together and some grub and attempt to watch it from start to finish.
Earth to Echo: This movie just looks adorable. Reminiscent of “ET,†it’s a feel good film with a bunch of young actors that has solid special effects and a story that has coming of age written all over it. A moderate success at the box office, “Earth to Echo†made $45 million in theaters. With a minuscule budget of $13 million, it has to be considered the type of niche film that other directors look to replicate in the coming years. Although it received a slew of negative reviews, it was nominated for a Teen Choice award in 2014.
