Review Fix Exclusive: Vlad Yudin Talks CT Fletcher: My Magnificent Obsession

Review Fix chats with documentarian Vlad Yudin, who discusses his new film, “CT Fletcher: My Magnificent Obsession.” Breaking down the inspiration for the film and the difficult editing process, Yudin separates the man from the myth behind CT Fletcher.

Review Fix: What inspired this documentary?

Vlad Yudin: CT. He is huge in the fitness world and an inspiration to all of his fans. We filmed a short video with him for the Generation Iron Fitness Network earlier this year. It was clear to see how impactful he is to the masses just by the reactions to this particular video. When I began to really research him and personally watching his videos. I could see what the everyone had been talking about. I knew his full story wasn’t being told just through these short videos. I approached him with this idea and he was hesitant at first. he wanted to make sure his real story was told and that’s exactly what we’ve done.

Review Fix: What do you think makes CT Fletcher so thought provoking?

Yudin: He speaks the truth. The kind of words people aren’t comfortable hearing all of the time. He speaks from experience and is relatable. People need that and he is there to say it. It may come with a heavy load of curse words. But it for sure works for his fans.

Review Fix: Who do you think will dig this documentary the most?

Yudin: There is a big difference between this documentary and the CT everyone is accustomed to watching. This is an inspirational story of a man who had it all and lost it all. With barely any hope he built himself back bigger and better than before. With some bad ass workout scenes as well. So it’s not a film just for the core fitness audience. I believe anyone that is looking to be inspired will dig this piece.

Review Fix: What was the editing process like? Was it difficult to leave certain scenes out?

Yudin: Most definitely. There is always great material left on the cutting board. I was not planning on making a 90 min long workout video. It was crucial to show the audience who CT Fletcher really is and what he fights for every day.

Review Fix: What have you learned about yourself as a filmmaker through this experience?

Yudin: I believe the title says it all. CT Fletcher: My Magnificent Obsession is something I can relate to greatly in my work. You have to be obsessed with what you do to achieve the most out of it.

Review Fix: How do you want this documentary to be remembered?

Yudin: The realest documentary about the realest mothaf&#$a.

Review Fix: What’s next for you?

Yudin: I am always working on a new project. CT Fletcher: My Magnificent Obsession is actually premiering the same day as my other film Jeremy Scott: The People’s Designer. Besides that, just continuing to build up Generation Iron Fitness Network. Which will now be a Video On Demand Platform with the release of CT Fletcher: My Magnificent Obsession is released.
