WWE RAW Coverage: Kalisto Wins US Title, Reigns Holdin’ His Own

This week’s RAW was all about trying to get Roman Reigns over as “the guy,” but by the end of it all, in spite of everything Reigns was able to accomplish, it was apparent that the return of Brock Lesnar and Kalisto’s US Title win were the real reason to tune in.

It’s not a knock against Reigns, but at this point, it’s even more apparent that he’s in over his head. He’s just got no one to tango with, especially the League of Nations faction floundering and Kevin Owens and Dean Ambrose locked in the hottest feud in the promotion. Make no mistake- there’s a reason why Reigns is defending the WWE World Heavyweight Title in the Royal Rumble match this year. There’s just no one ready to scrap with Reigns that people would care about.

With injuries to Seth Rollins, John Cena, Cesaro, Randy Orton, Nikki Bella and others, the WWE continues to scramble in order to put together a decent card every week. Simply put, Stardust and Titus O’Neil, a match that belongs on Superstars, isn’t going to cut it on the big show.

With just two weeks to go before Royal Rumble, something crazy has to happen- and soon.

Matches:

Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose vs. Sheamus: The Celtic Warrior got the advantage early after he blindsided Ambrose on the ramp, but things went back and forth in the ring once the action settled down. Ambrose began to surge with strikes of his own eventually and after a Suicide Dive, was totally in control. Ambrose hit his Elbow Drop Splash and then things got crazy after Ambrose split open Sheamus’ forehead on the ring post, which got the match thrown out. Just when it appeared Ambrose was going to take out Sheamus for good, Kevin Owens hit the ring and attempted to Powerbomb Ambrose through the announce table before WWE referees bombarded him and protected the Lunatic Fringe.
