Review Fix chats with singer/songwriter Casey Bolles, who discusses his new covers EP, “Manhattan.â€
Known for his quirky style and honest delivery, Bolles’ release of “Manhattan†follows his 2015 acoustic EP, “Freshman,†which received acclaim from fans and has helped propel him to new heights in the indie music scene. The record can be purchased at caseybolles.merchnow.com.
Review Fix: What was the inspiration for this EP?
Casey Bolles: I wanted to put something out while I’m working on my full length, and covers were something easy to do in the meantime.
Review Fix: What do you think is the standout song on the EP?
Bolles: I think chocolate is the coolest sounding one and the one I put some work into arranging. The other two are a lot more simple, just guitar and vocals for the most part.
Review Fix: What was it like to work with Jay Zubricky again?
Bolles: Great as always. He’s a good friend and he’s excellent at what he does.
Review Fix: How do you think your sound has changed since your first EP?
Bolles: This EP definitely sounds drastically different from the first one, but I will keep the instrumentation more similar to that on “Freshman” in the future.
Review Fix: Who do you think will enjoy this EP the most?
Bolles: I’m hoping people who have been listening to my music since I released “Freshman” enjoy it, but I’m also hoping some people that wouldn’t have otherwise given my music a listen become more interested after these.
Review Fix: How do you want it to be remembered?
Bolles: As a fun project I put together with my friend Jay that hopefully keeps people anticipating more original work to come.
Review Fix: What’s next?
Bolles: I’m recording a record in a week or so and I’m pretty terrified of that. Other than that just trying to tour as much as I can in 2016.
