Review Fix chats with ‘s Danny Rico, who Discusses the inspiration behind the band’s new EP “Death Deserves A Name,” as well as their goals for the rest of the year.
Review Fix:Â How did the band get together?
Danny Rico: It really all started when Krier sent me a few demos out of the blue. I pretty much immediately flipped out and wanted to be involved. After working on the songs together for a bit, we began tracking DDAN at my little studio in Brooklyn. We kinda walked away with a finished product thinking, “Well, let’s send this to a couple friends and see what they think?”. Amazingly it ended up in front of Jake from Pure Noise and soon after we were signing. It was crazy. Krier had his lifelong buddies Chez and Greg jam with us for our first band practice and we instantly vibed.
Review Fix:Â How was “Your Clothes” written?
Rico:Â That was all Krier. We worked out some drum parts together, but honestly that song stayed nearly exactly the same as the demo he originally sent me.
Review Fix:Â What makes you guys unique?
Rico:Â I hate selling myself.
Review Fix:Â What acts inspire you the most?
Rico:Â I grew up on The Beatles and Prince. Def had a heavy Nirvana phase as a kid. When I started getting into production and songwriting I was tripping out on Third Eye Blind/Eric Valentine and Death Cab/Chris Walla.
Review Fix:Â What are your goals for 2016?
Rico:Â Sing karaoke in Tokyo.
Review Fix:Â How do you want people to be affected by your tunes?
Rico:Â I just hope people vibe it really. The songs Krier writes resonate with me, and I’d hope that it would for others, too.
Review Fix:Â How do you want this EP to be remembered?
Rico:Â The vibe.
Review Fix:Â What’s next?
Rico:Â Tour.
