Roman Reigns is still a bore, Regardless of what WWE Creative tries to make him cool, there aren’t enough slow-rising gates in the world to get him “over.” No longer coming through the crowd, Reigns has zero charisma and his match with Triple H at Wrestlemania 32 in Dallas is going to be a bore. Believe that. With Kane and Big Show headlining the Andre the Giant Battle Royal as well, there were a handful of missteps this week on RAW.
However, with Kevin Owens, Dean Ambrose Chris Jericho and AJ Styles, as well as the New Day all stepping up, this week’s RAW was serviceable. Regardless, the WWE needs their top tier stars the likes of Reigns, Taker, Lesnar and the lukewarm Divas Division to have a huge week next week. With already the weakest Wrestlemania card ever, at least on paper, the go-home show must be a special one.
Matches:
AJ Styes vs. Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens: A fantastic opener with plenty of offense and drama. Although Owens was in control for a huge part of the match, Styles got the advantage with his Fireman’s Carry Neckbreaker after Owens, missed the Cannonball in the corner. However, Owens got back in it and shocked the crowd with a beautiful Frog Splash after Styles missed the Frankensteiner from the top rope. After Styles avoided the Pop-Up Powerbomb, the two traded blows, from an Owens Super Kick to a Styles Pele Kick. Styles then used the Torture Rack and followed it up with a Death Valley Driver variation for another near-fall. Styles then hit a Powerbomb variation from the top, countering an Owens Samoan Drop, but he couldn’t put Owens away. Just when it appeared that Styles was going for the Flying Forearm, Chris Jericho caused the distraction. Although Styles was able to lock in the Calf Killer, Y2J caused another distraction, this time, allowing Owens to win with a Rollup.
