ELLEN AND TROY AND ELOISE by Warren Paul Glover, directed by Laurie Rae Waugh; starring Beth Newbery, Lily Marceau, and Joshua Rugiano. If you love someone, set them free. Really? But first meet her mother! (Light hearted Drama)
Performance Schedule: Wed 7/20, 8:45pm; Fri 7/22, 7:00pm; Sun 7/24, 2:45pm

Review Fix: What was the inspiration for this project?

Beth Newbery: Reading a great script that has the actor’s intentions; within the actors and knowing it has a real rawness to the story that many can relate to.  It’s a simple concept that gives us a look into a moment of someone’s life but you get to know what’s led the individuals to this.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Newbery: Go through the reactions, not just learning cues then finding each other.  Also with the guidance of the director, this can vary so much.  So much so, Laurie gives us notes to help us pull back layer after layer of the onion to find the truth in our character and our relationship to the other characters.

Review Fix: What makes this different or special?

Newbery: Having fun- getting the character from your inner self and not from outside.  Also, the how of the communication, it has some real moments in term of what people say to each other.

Review Fix: What did you learn about yourself through this process?

Newbery: Can always push, push, push and will never get to the top.  Satisfaction of being where you can.  I hope to learn more but we are still in the early stages.

Review Fix: How does it feel to be a part of something like this?

Newbery: Always like good creative scripts, so being a part of a brassy mother is cool and the script is a good piece of writing.  So this is pleasing.  All characters interact with a unity and our director works similar to me.

Review Fix: What are your ultimate goals for this production and for the future?

Newbery: Getting a good reaction and then building on this to produce the full version of the play in a larger venue with a budget.

Review Fix: What do you think your audiences will enjoy the most?

Newbery: The relationships between the mother, girlfriends and ex-boyfriend- what they can relate to, and its simply easy going, and laid back.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Newbery: As I said before, a feature film from the play “Undone,” and a production of the play “Wake” in the UK and Seattle during the fall. As for this actual piece it would be good to produce the full version of the play.
