Review Fix Exclusive: The Spiders’ Nick DeStefano Talks ‘Election Day’

Review Fix chats with The Spiders’ Nick DeStefano who discusses the band’s new single, “Election Day.”

Review Fix: How did the band get together?

Nick DeStefano: We actually got together to play my sister’s birthday party, we all knew of each other from playing the NJ club scene and this gave us a reason to finally play together.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

DeStefano: Usually, I will come up with the main parts of the song and then I will give to the guys and let them play what they want.

Review Fix: How was “Election Day” written?

DeStefano: Election Day was a song that I had in my head for a long time. The opening riff i had for a couple of years and the chorus was always an idea I wanted to write words too. I just needed a good subject and finally this election was just what I needed. The lyrics came very quickly.

Review Fix: What are your hopes for it?

DeStefano: I feel its such a great well timed song, it sounds fresh and exciting, and the energy goes with the angst that surrounds this Presidential Election.

Review Fix: What are your goals for the rest of 2016?

DeStefano: Right Now, we would love for “Election Day” to become the official song for the 2016 Presidential Election

Review Fix: How do you want your music to affect people?

DeStefano: All the songs I am writing recently all take on a serious subject line, this song is the election, my other recent songs dealt with the widespread flooding, and our injured soldiers.

Review Fix: What’s next?

DeStefano: We are hoping that Election Day hits the mainstream in a big way and then we will get back in the studio and finish up some more songs.
