NXT Coverage: Roode Makes Grand Statement, Joe Ready For Nakamura

Hideo Itami, Bobby Roode, The Revival, Samoa Joe, Asuka, Bayley…this show was stacked. With storylines beginning to take shape, NXT, even with a plethora of new faces, is starting to pick up steam again.

Matches:

Hideo Itami vs. Sean Maluta: Itami was crisp and witty in the ring, showing a lot more charisma than he did in his previous stint with the company, while Maluta, with his second rope Codebreaker and strikes, was a worthy opponent. But following the Dragonscrew, some strikes and corner Dropkick, Itami got the win with the Shotgun Kick.

Mojo Rawley vs. Chris Atkins: Rawley hit the Pounce early, but Samoa Joe hit the ring and cleared house. After Joe tells the crowd he’s taking over NXT this week, Rawley attacks him, but Joe puts him in the Kokina Clutch for his efforts.

NXT Women’s Champion Asuka vs. Aliyah: This Asuka is all business as the young Aliyah, armed with a better, new look, was pretty much squashed, tapping out to the Asuka Lock. Refusing to let go of the hold, Bayley had to make the save.

TM 61: Shane Thorne and Nick Miller vs. NXT Tag Team Champions The Revival: Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder: This was a wild tag team match, but thanks to better communication and an awesome DDT, The Revival squeezed out the win.

After the match, Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano got the best of the champs as the show went off the air, making it obvious that their feud is just getting started.
