Review Fix chats with Cavador’s Emanuel Salgado, who discusses the band’s origin and standout track “Prohibited Be Born,†as well as their goals for the future.
Review Fix: How did you guys get together?
Emanuel Salgado: It was in 2003 in a city called Ramos Mejia in Argentina, the drummer and both guitarists were schoolmates and I met them through a friend that we had in common. Then we became friends and then I asked them to start a Thrash Metal band. That is how Cavador was born.
Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?
Salgado: Well, I try to compose just after I wake up or just before I go to bed. I found out that those two moments are the best for me. Then we meet in the rehearsal room, share our ideas together and see how it sounds like. Finally, we record some raw demos, listen to it again, arrange and rearrange and play what we like best. All of us should like what we have done, that is our main rule.

Review Fix: What do you think makes this band special?
Salgado: We love what we do and we put tons of energy and passion on it. I think that is what make us special, because is not just playing well or fast, is not “look how I playâ€, is not which technique you use or how you use your hands, feet or vocals,  we better say “listen what I feel†and  we play what we feel, that is our music.

Review Fix: How would you describe your style?
Salgado: I think our playing style is mainly influenced by Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Testament…. I have heard many times that we have been influenced by german Thrash Metal bands like Destruction, Kreator or Sodom, or influenced by Overkill…. but I don’t honestly think that.  Also you can find a lot from Argentinean metal, especially on the lyrics.  I rather say that we play Argentinean Thrash Metal.

Review Fix: What are your goals for this album?
Salgado: Well as I said before, we want to play what we feel and nowadays is called Thrash Metal, so we want to keep that line and, of course, try to improve and record a better and stronger album.

Review Fix: What’s the standout song? Is there a story behind it?
Salgado: “Prohibited be born†is definitely a Cavador song. It’s fast, aggressive and raw, but at the same time have killer melodies and an epic fade out with acoustic guitars.

Review Fix: What’s next?
Salgado: Right now, we are working on new songs for a new album, we have done 5 or 6 songs so far and we want to do 2 or 3 more. Then we have to start the recording process and then mixing. So, we still have a lot of work ahead… Then if everything goes well, we hope to play and do some concerts before the end of 2016.
