Hell’s Kitchen Recap: B-Ball Anyone?

Real housewives and basketball players converge in an all new episode of “Hell’s Kitchen” which features plenty of Southern cuisine not cooked properly.

In this episode, there were artists in the dining room painting. Even Marino was painting (it was just a stick figure of Ramsay. It was funny either way.) This was to highlight that each chef was to put their interpretation on Southern dishes. These dishes were determined by one chef from each team going in front of one of six domes and that would be the dish they would cook.

Matt and Ryan had fried chicken, Koop and Heidi had shrimp, Shaina and Johnny had hanger steak, Paulie and Wendy had catfish, Andrew and Heather had pork chop and Kimberly and Devon had trout.

During the challenge, Koop cut the tip of his finger. It got so bad he passed out and even needed an oxygen mask. These instances are not something you want to see happen to anyone no matter how much you hate the chef. He did recover, but since he was with the medic for too long his dish didn’t make it to tasting.

To help judge the challenge, Ramsay called in Executive Chef of “Hot and Hot Fish Club,” Chris Hastings. The best dish from each protein will receive a point and the best dish was on the menu that night. One thing that was a bit unfair was Ramsay allowed Heidi to present her dish even though Koop didn’t have a dish. She didn’t get a point, though.

The Red won the challenge 4-2 and the best overall dish was Wendy’s. Their reward was horseback riding at “Gibson Ranch” and food from the food truck “Wings and Waffles.”

The Blue spent the day grinding corn into grits and clean shrimp. Koop seemed to want to leave, but he didn’t. Good for him.

Once again, this episode had chef’s tables. The Red had one of the stars of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Adrienne Maloof and the Blue had JJ Redick from the “LA Clippers.” Both teams killed it during apps, but during entrees, the Blue’s only mistakes were Andrew’s soggy catfish and Koop’s undercooked Wellington. The Red had it much worse.

Shaina still can’t cook chicken properly. She made that was overcooked and another that was undercooked. For someone who loves chicken, she can’t get it right and this was for Adrienne Maloof. The worse yet was Wendy messing up her own dish that was on the menu. She went from criticizing Andrew’s catfish to messing up her own. The last straw was Kimberly undercooking a Wellington because the Red turned down the ovens for desserts and yet another raw catfish. The entire team was thrown out.

The Red nominated Shaina and Wendy. Ramsay decided to put both women on the Blue and putting Andrew and Matt on the Red.

That was a surprising turn of events. Sometimes a change of teams works and sometimes it doesn’t. This will cause some interesting scenarios in the next few episodes, meaning this season just got a lot more interesting.
