Ten Reasons Why Pokemon Sun and Moon is the Best Pokemon Game on the 3DS

The first-ever Pokemon RPG was released about 20 years before the latest installment, Pokemon Sun and Moon, proving Game Freak has developed a more than commendable handheld RPG series over the years. But with the recent release of Pokemon Sun and Moon, Game Freak’s continued innovations unarguably makes Sun and Moon the best Pokemon game.

10:  EnhancedMove Selection Screen: Players can now easily read the description of the move and see if it’ll be effective or not against their opponent. This may seem like a cheat sheet for Trainers but the effective and non-effective feature is not shown for every Pokemon battle. This improvement is great for newcomers that don’t fully understand the game’s concept and mechanics.

9: Poke Pelago: Users can now put their Pokemon in their PC box to use with Poke Pelago. Just when people thought that EV training would never get any easier, Game Freak introduced Poke Pelago. Poke Pelago enables Trainers to gather Poke beans, grow berries, send Pokemon on missions, EV train, and hatch eggs with ease. This new mechanic simplifies all the difficult tasks in other Pokemon games.

8: Longevity: It takes approximately thirty hours to complete Sun and Moons without any errors. From the Trials to improving your team, there’s so much to do in this installment of Pokémon. This and the added features gives Trainers hours upon hours of gameplay that’ll go beyond the thirty hours.

7: Ultra Beasts: Several eerie new Pokemon that came from another dimension helps build the story of Sun and Moon. They all bring an interesting conception to the game. These mysterious creatures give Pokemon fans a new concept thats never been done in Pokémon’s lifetime.

6: Trials (Island Challenge): Instead of your typical Pokémon gym battle in every major city, Sun and Moon switches things up. Trainers are put through Trials where they battle a series of Pokémon before they face the Totem Pokemon. The increased stats on the Totem Pokemon adds a new level of difficulty in the game.

5: New Pokemon: Pokemon Sun and Moon’s new generation of Pokemon has to be the most memorable compared to previous Pokemon games. Even though the game drove away from the norm of designing new Pokemon, this generation’s Pokemon is way more interesting. Instead of looking at it as Game Freak running out of ideas for designing Pokemon, it should rather be looked at as a change of pace in the franchise.

4: 3D Models: Compared to Pokemon X and Y’s Chibi like graphics, the improvements in Sun and Moon are outstanding. The Pokemon’s graphics look the same but are actually slightly improved. Being able to see both trainers behind their Pokemon is a neat feature and oddly gives off a sense of realism. The characters in the game are given a new depth that gives them a much more real look to them.

3: No HMs: No need for HM slaves, because the new feature, Poke Ride, allows you to call on the help of Pokemon to fast travel, smash through boulders, and etc. Finally, every Pokemon in your party can be put to proper use.

2: Z Moves: Z moves adds an extra layer of competitiveness in battling trainers and online battles. When using your Pokemon’s Z move it almost feels like the ultimate finisher in a fighting game. Trainers can potentially give every Pokemon in their team a Z move, making their party a bit more unstoppable. Collecting various Z crystals through Island Trials opens up more opportunities to beef up your party.

1: Aloha Formes: Bringing old Pokemon back with a new touch, Alola Forms revived the Pokemon we loved in the first generations of the Pokémon franchise. This pays homage to older Pokemon fans with the intention of luring them back into the game that they once loved. This new twist brought back an ice type Vulpix, a dark type Rattata, and several other alterations.
