Sound clarity and comfort are the keys to producing an awesome audio or streaming podcast and for many gamers and multimedia curators, a headset, regardless of the fancy cushions, light-weight or any other bells and whistles, isn’t the same as just playing and talking.
Turtle Beach’s new streaming mic, for those gamers or anyone else looking to try something new and unique, has created something that has solid sound production and can capture a moment just as well as any headset. For many, it could become they’re new favorite podcasting or streaming tool.
Connecting easily to the PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One, the Steaming Mic has to be relatively close to you to work best, preferably on a table, or even a boom without three to five feet. If it’s farther than that, you’ll have some volume issues, especially for you low-talkers, but even that is nothing that a free sound editor the likes of Audacity can’t fix. If you’re making videos that aren’t live, Final Cut Pro or any other video editor can help you tighten things up as well. For these types of videos, ones that are about production, this mic is one that is more comfortable and easier to use. Once it’s plugged in and turned on, it’s good to go. There’s no worry in forgetting if you pressed anything, as many headsets have volume and mute buttons on the wires.
While the Streaming Mic has these things as well, there’s little reason to touch them in a situation where you’re not playing live. For ease of use alone, the Streaming Mic is a win for anyone looking to create professionally-sounding podcasts or videos.
In a streaming environment, the mic is awesome because it’ll allow as many voices that are in a room and close enough to play a role in the production. Only two headsets and four people playing? Not a problem. For this reason, the Turtle Beach Streaming Mic is a handy tool, great at capturing fun streaming moments in a local gaming environment.
Another interesting use is for retro gaming tournaments. Using the El Gato, gamers can capture video and sound, but using the Streaming Mic with your Mac or PC, you can capture all of the ambient noise and that of the competitors.
Again, while the mic does what it claims to do well, the bevy of other uses and plug and play nature make it a great tool for anyone looking to get a peripheral that can perform a ton of different uses.
