Goldberg’s announcement that he’ll be in this year’s Royal Rumble and the promise of two title matches next week on RAW pushes the show in a brand new direction, with plenty of momentum.
Regardless of how you feel about Goldberg, the new amount of excitement on the show is hard to ignore. With new feuds beginning, RAW feels like a different show entirely.
Matches:
WWE RAW Tag Team Champions The New Day: Big E. Langston and Kofi Kingston w/Xavier Woods vs/ Sheamus and Cesaro: Tons of back and forth as Cesaro got the tap out with the Sharpshooter, but with Langston out on the outside after a Sheamus Brogue Kick, Woods distracted the referee, allowing Kingston to escape and get the win with the Rollup.
Cedric Alexander vs. Ariya Daivari: Alexander got the quick win with the Lumbar Check.
Enzo Amore w/Colin Cassady vs. Rusev w/Lana: Rusev wasted little time and got the win with the Accolade.
Winner Gets Shot at New Day Next Week: Golden Truth: R-Truth and Goldust vs. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson: Another fast one as Gallows and Anderson put Goldust away with the Magic Killer.
Sami Zayn vs. Braun Strowman: Zayn was decimated as Strowman attacked him before the bell and never let up, forcing Mick Foley to come out and stop the match.
Nia Jax and WWE RAW Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair w/Dana Brooke vs. Sasha Banks and Bayley: After Banks and Bayley Duplexed Jax, Banks got the submission victory via the Bank Statement.
#1 Contender’s Match for Cruiserweight Championship: Rich Swann vs. Noam Dar vs. TJ Perkins: Lots of back and forth, but Swann got the win with the Rich Kick on Perkins.
No DQ: Seth Rollins vs. WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens- Chris Jericho and Roman Reigns barred from ringside: Chairs played a big role in this match, but it was hard to get into thanks to a pair of commercial breaks. Both Rollins and Owens had plenty of chances to win, but Owens continued to power out, even after Rollins put him through a table with a Powerbomb. Although Rollins kept the offense coming once the match got to the outside with a wild Splash from the crowd, Jericho’s interference on the outside allowed Owens to hit a Pop-Up Powerbomb on the apron and get the win.
