Review Fix: How did the band get together?
Joe Lipsham: Well I believe Kyle, Rory and Max all went to the same high school and had the same interest in music which led to them making the band. After going through a few different bass players, Jeremy was recruited in 2014 right before recording their single “Self-Decay.†I also was a late bloomer and joined the band in September 2015 during the midst of writing the EP.
Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?
Lipsham: The majority of our songs have come together just from Max writing guitars by himself into his computer. From the basic song skeleton I would then add drums and last but certainly not least, Kyle would add vocals.
Review Fix: What’s your standout song? How was it written?
Lipsham: I mean for this EP we actually all favour different songs, which is probably a good thing. For me, our lastly recorded song “Placeholder†stand out. The writing process for this one differed our usual process; It was a bit more of an improvised kind of situation, with the song going from scratch to finished in an afternoon.
Review Fix: What are your goals for 2016?
Lipsham: Well we have had a full-on couple of months as we are nearing the release of DUSK, but after releasing we just want to travel around and get our music to as many people as possible.
Review Fix: How do you want your music to affect people?
Lipsham: I mean lyrically this EP is very self reflective and you can definitely identify common themes of mental heath, emotional-progression and the struggles of growing up. So i guess we hope that our EP helps listeners who are perhaps going through similar issues. Above all though, we just want fans to enjoy the EP for whatever reason they want.
Review Fix: What’s next?
Lipsham: Tour, tour, tour.
