Hell’s Kitchen Recap: Dual Shocker

It’s the season’s Black Jackets’ first real taste of what horrors Ramsay can throw at them in an all new episode of “Hell’s Kitchen.”

This episode started with the dining room being decorated a little like “The Venetian hotel.” There was even a poker table with buzzers that had the chefs’ names on them. The way this worked was Ramsay gave each chef three cards that had chicken, potatoes and smoked bacon on them. Ramsay then revealed one ingredient at a time and each chef had to buzz in if they wanted that ingredient. Each chef got three ingredients. They then had to cook a dish based on the ingredients they got.

Heidi got carrots, Swiss chard and lemon. Paulie got green beans, pecans and white wine. Kimberly got black garlic, mushrooms and Dijon mustard. Ryan got bread crumbs, spinach and leeks. Heather got eggs, peas and Pecorino Romano.

Ryan had a tough time with that buzzer even after all the talk she did about being a poker player.

To help judge this week’s challenge was chef/owner of “Lincoln” and “Sunshine Tavern” Jenn Lewis. This was the week that had the “leader’s chair.” Meaning, whoever is left in the chair (best overall dish) wins. Paulie had the chair throughout the challenge until Heather dethroned him and won the challenge.

Heather’s reward was, as is usual in this competition, a day in Las Vegas at “The Venetian Hotel” in a suite and she chose Heid to come with her. Kimberly said Heather promised her to take her if she won. Some friend, huh? The usual stuff happens that anyone who’s seen this series can guess.

As for the rest of the chefs, it was recycling day. It got worse: it rained. That right there is the cherry on the sundae for recycling day. In fact, it was even funny.

This dinner service was where each chef had to take turns being a sous chef. Andi and Aaron were in the chef’s tables.

Heather was up first and did wonderfully

On Kimberly’s turn, Paulie brought up undercooked scallops and lobster tails. Kimberly was flustered and had to ask Ramsay if the portions were appropriate. It got so out of control that Andi had to cook the scallops. Yes, the sous chef who was supposed to have the night off didn’t get one.

On Paulie’s turn, it was painful to watch him not remember the order. He even made up items that weren’t even ordered. Heather then made mushy scallops and Paulie was even plating them. He standards are low.

On Ryan’s turn, Heather sent up a cold sea bass. Cold food at this point is unacceptable. Kimberly was also freaking out. The best part: Ramsay threw all the chefs out and Aaron and Andi had to finish service. What an embarrassment.

The chefs nominated Kimberly and Paulie with Ramsay eliminating both.

This dinner service was an embarrassment. They got thrown out at a time when they shouldn’t have been thrown out. Paulie should’ve been gone a long time ago. With him gone, it’s official that a female will win this season, cementing the fact that this season’s Blue Team sucked.
