It’s the penultimate episode of “Hell’s Kitchen’s†sixteenth season and these chefs will have the second hardest challenges to win this season. Things sure are heating up.
Where the last episode left off, Ramsay said that they had to prepare the next day’s challenge that night. The three chefs had to go shopping for ingredients they want to use for “Hell’s Kitchen’s†first ever table side challenge. Ryan was really nervous about this challenge. She even said this wasn’t her strong suit.
The guests were three top chefs in Los Angeles and their brigades. The chefs were executive chef/owner of “Union,†Bruce Kalman, chef/owner of “Sotto,†Steve Samson, executive chef of “Culina,†Mette Williams and chef de cuisine of “Cecconi’s,†Alessio Biangini.
Some lows were Heather having some trouble with time management, Heidi offending Chef Kalman by insinuating cooking beef didn’t require technique and Heather got caught double dipping, causing her to restart her dish. In all, just some minor things except for that double dipping. That was just a pure blonde moment.
In the end, Ryan got 62 ½ of the votes, winning the challenge. Offering her guests tequila also helped matters. Her reward was a ride in a helicopter, touring Los Angeles and lunch at “Firefly†with Ramsay.
The other two chefs had to wrap gifts for the “Hell’s Kitchen†servers, steam their uniforms and polish their shoes. This was what Ramsay called “Server Appreciation Day.â€
This part of the show went by quick because of how little happened. Dinner service was where things really heated up because each chef got a turn running the pass. Meaning, there were plenty of sabotages from the sous chefs and this was where they proved they can do this job. Also, actress Tara Reid was at the chef’s table.
It started off with Heidi not turning all of the burners of her flattop on. Rookie mistake. She was also up first. She failed to notice that peas were replaced by edamame. She did catch that butternut squash was replaced by carrots. During this time, Heather was having problems with scallops. There was always one that was broken. This was impossible at this point.
Heather was second. She caught that Marino wrote snapper on the ticket when it wasn’t on the menu but failed to notice salmon was replaced by Arctic char. During this, Heidi did not put shrimp or calamari in her capellini. Was it nerves or did her time at the pass get to her?
At Ryan’s turn, she completely failed at calling out orders. That was painful to listen to. She also failed at noticing the black bean puree was replaced by black garlic puree but caught the celery root puree was replaced by potato puree. Heidi also undercooked risotto.
Of course, the chefs had to choose one person they thought didn’t belong in the final and why each chef belongs in the final. Heather was the one chef Heidi and Ryan thought didn’t belong and Heather thought Ryan belong. The final two were Heather and Ryan.
Heidi’s constant mistakes this episode cost her a chance in the final. Ryan VS Heather will be interesting to watch seeing how both chefs have proven themselves time and again this season. In truth, Ryan seems like the most likely to win, but that also depends on who she chooses for her chefs in the final. The final should be interesting to watch.
