Impact Wrestling Coverage: Edwards Retains Thanks to Richards

The first Impact Wrestling of 2017 was much like their 2016- average. While the Hardy Boys continue to entertain, the rest of the card is just boring. There’s so much potential in every division, but things just haven’t clicked yet.

Matches:

Impact Grand Champion: Moose vs. Mike Bennett w/Maria Kanellis: These two tried, but this was a boring match. Moose got the win via Split-Decision.

Rockstar Spud vs. Swoggle: Spud taunted Swoggle, but after a German Suplex and a Celtic Cross, Swoggle got the surprise win.

The Helms Dynasty: Andrew Everett and Trevor Lee w/Shane Helms vs. Decay: Abyss and Crazy Steve w/Knockouts Champion Rosemary: Decay got the squash win as Abyss Chokeslammed Everett for the pinfall. After the match, the DCC hit the ring and took them out.

Allie w/Braxton Sutter vs. Sienna w/Maria Kanellis and Laurel Van Ness: Constant distractions from Van Ness allowed Sienna to hit The Silencer for the win.

Impact World Heavyweight Champion Eddie Edwards vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Ethan Carter III: A 10-minute match filled with offense and spots. After a series of counters, Carter hit the TK3, but Lashley kicked out. EC3 then locked in the Sleeper, but Lashley hit a Spear on both of them into an exposed turnbuckle. Ashley then nailed Carter with a Spear on the outside before Edwards took out Lashley with a Suicide Dive. After he threw Lashley back in the ring, Lashley hit a Spear, but Edwards rolled to the outside. Ashley then went to hit Edwards with the title, but the returning Davey Richards took it away and allowed Edwards to hit the Boston Knee Party for the win.
