Combining elements of Lady Antebellum and Fleetwood Back, the Nashville-based duo of husband and wife Kassie Jordan and Troy Brooks gets it done in their latest EP. Although just a two-track production, the attention to vocal harmony and solid musicianship make these two a hot act.
The best part of this EP is its balance. “Hurts Just the Same†has a wonderful vocal harmony and feels like an Americana-infused Fleetwood Mac track. Jordan and Brooks might as well be Lyndsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. Add in some solid guitar and drum work and this is a definite hit that showcases the strengths of the group entirely.
“Angels Come Home†is a much sweeter track, but it’s just as special. Again, powered by beautiful lyrics and vocal harmony and aided by great drum and guitar work, it’s a track you’ll hum under your breath for weeks. It’s also a track where Jordan shows the world she’s got vocal chops. Make no mistake, while Brooks smooth crooning is solid, Jordan steals the show here.
It’s rare that two tremendously gifted vocalists work together in this fashion and even rarer that they’re married. Like the bond that they share as a couple, musically, the togetherness shows with reckless abandon. Just from these two tracks alone, it’s obvious these two have something that needs to be cultivated further.
