Review Fix chats with Bloodfield’s Cine, who discusses the band’s origin and goals.
Review Fix: How did the band get together?
Cine: The current lineup took some time to build… Simone, the drummer, and Luca, the bassist, played together for some time with one of our former guitar players. Cine and another guitar player joined shortly – and that’s when Bloodfield were born. Through the years, however we experienced two lineup changes that brought us to the current lineup: first, Domenico joined in 2015 and our sound finally begun to take its current shape, while recently Gaspa has been replaced by Franceso due to time restraints.
Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?
Cine: Domenico and Simone are our forges of ideas – and I mean it, they are cosntantly digging out on new riffs and rythms that then become fully fledged songs with the contribution of all other musicians. The vocal line and lyrics are added at the end, with the latter made by Cine and the final arrangement made by all of us together.
Review Fix: What do you think makes this bad special?
Cine: Well, we all come from different musical backgrounds, and I think this is the spicy ingredient to our band. Simone and Luca are old school metal fans, Domenico has a masters degree in electronic music and loves extreme metal, while Cine listens to every possible kind of music – from J-pop to industrial metal.
Review Fix: How would you describe your style?
Cine: The first word that comes into my mind is “genuineâ€. We like making music – we really enjoy it – and so we tend to go straight to the point without any frills or excessive technicalities. We are Bloodfield.
Review Fix: What are your goals for this album?
Cine: To make it know to as many people as possible, of course, so that hopefully it can take us on the road for a tour. The italian scene is not an easy one at this time, our genre is not really appreciated by the large audience, so we’re aiming for eastern and northern Europe.
Review Fix: What’s the standout song? Is there a story behind it?
Cine: I’d say the album’s title track, “Sinners or Liarsâ€. It’s the last song that we composed, and the one that better represent our growth as musicians and as a band.
Review Fix: What’s next?
Cine: Who knows? Another album for sure, possibly previewed by a digital-only EP. And gigs. Gigs everywhere!
