Review Fix chats with singer/songwriter  Jonny Parks, who discusses his newest LP, The Porchia LP- and the signature sound behind it. By mixing together R&B, Soul, Blues, and Jazz, Parks’ sound is certainly unique.
Review Fix: What makes your new LP special?
Jonny Parks: The fact that my album provides a story and a message while sonically sounding different is what makes it special. I think anyone can relate to this album whether they’ve had problems with love or addiction.
Review Fix: How is the creative process different from your other work?
Parks: This process was ongoing, so that’s how it was different. I started writing for it in Summer of 2015 and finished at the start of 2017. Also, I had to keep in mind a connecting story which I didn’t have to worry about on my other projects in the past.
Review Fix: How would you describe your sound to someone who’s never heard you before?
Parks: I would describe my sound as a mix of R&B, Soul, Blues, and Jazz. I am avant garde. Stevie Wonder is a huge influence of mine so the listener will be able to hear a little of him in my music too.
Review Fix: Bottom line, why should someone buy the LP?
Parks: My music is refreshing, especially in today’s current state of popular music.
Review Fix: What are your goals for the rest of the year?
Parks: I want to continue to do more shows and to keep growing/evolving musically. I also want to keep growing my fan base.
Review Fix: What do you feel you have to do to make your dreams in music come true?
Parks: I have to stay consistent, just as every musician has to. Staying consistent and producing great material is key.
Review Fix: What’s next?
Parks: I want to, of course, perform more live with my band. Again, I must stay consistent. Consistency with shows and music. I just finished and released this album and I am already writing for my next. Networking is also important and connecting with different people who have the same work ethic. Having positive and hard working people around will make the dream come true too just by motivation.
