Review Fix Exclusive: Matt LeGrand Talks ‘What Christmas Means to Me’ And More

Review Fix chats with singer Matt LeGrand, who discusses his holiday single, “What Christmas Means to Me,” as well as his goals for 2018.

Review Fix: What does Christmas mean to you?

Matt LeGrand: Christmas to me simply means being with your loved ones, enjoying the moment, and creating memories that’ll be with you forever. For me it also means to do something charitable, like give my time to a non-for profit!

Review Fix: Why this song?

LeGrand: I grew up hearing this song in my favorite Christmas movies. I actually never knew that it was Stevie Wonder, so that was really special when I figured that out! I watched Stevie perform it live on ABC and that was what really inspired me to do it. I wanted to bring the same feeling that he brought and put my own twist on it! Instant classic!

Review Fix: How has Stevie Wonder influenced you?

LeGrand: Stevie has inspired me to bring out the person and the soul that’s deep inside of me. Stevie can’t see the notes on the piano but he knows where they are. He has to do everywhere based off of what he hears and feels. That is out of this world to me. He seems like the kindest person and he is an icon that will live forever in the music world. Artist like Stevie shape the industry and that is why I hope to follow in his footsteps one day!

Review Fix: How is your version different?

LeGrand: My version is different because it has my voice. It has the little things that make it my own. I was quite nervous to do it because when you cover an artist like a Stevie Wonder you better get it right! So far, the love has been outstanding so I think I nailed it. Hopefully Stevie hears it one day!

Review Fix: How do you want your performance here to be remembered?

LeGrand: I want to know that it brought people together to enjoy their holiday. Or that it put a smile on somebody’s face. Or that it turned a bad day into a good one and a good one into a great one. That’s my purpose here!

Review Fix: What are your goals for 2018?

LeGrand: My goals are to keep developing myself personally and as an artist. My team and I feel something about 2018. We all feel something coming. It’s strange and exciting at the same time. We are going to keep doing what we’ve been doing! We’ll be releasing new material straight out of the gate at the top of the year. I hope to be touring this year!

Review Fix: What’s next for you?

LeGrand: A new song that I am really excited about. I think it will be a pivot point for my career! Then we hope to be working on my first EP. We’ll be on all streaming platforms soon and again the goal is to start touring! I’d like to see the people that enjoy my music face to face!

Review Fix: Anything else you’d like to add?

LeGrand: The train is rolling and it’s a very exciting time to be in music right now! Love to all my fans!
