Review Fix Exclusive: Pilsen Drinkers’ Rodrogo Gutierrez Talks Origin, Future

Review Fix chats with Pilsen Drinkers’ Rodrogo Gutierrez, who discusses the band’s origin, creative process and goals for the future.

Review Fix: How did you guys get together?

Rodrogo Gutierrez: The band was born in the summer of 2004 since the need to create music was great, hence myself (drummer, and who writes the tunes) together with Diego (voice and guitars) along with other friends we started in the path of Metal. In 2007, the EP “Controlado Por El Odio” (“Controlled by hate”) was made of 4 songs in Spanish, specifying the name of the band in our country. After a long recess, I decide (Rod) to meet Diego next and give life to Pilsen Drinkers again. This time, 2 new members, Amador (guitar and backing vocals) and Mike (bass) arrive, which is the current and most stable lineup of Pilsen Drinkers. In 2015 we recorded our first LP “Join The Brotherhood”, released by Chilean Australis Records in 2017.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Gutierrez: Our creative process is simple, rhythmic bases created with guitars, and then begin to create batteries with a lot of groove and thrash to not lose our label as a band, musically it is a collective creative process, and the lyrics are composed by Diego. At the moment we are starting to create themes and their respective models for our second LP.

Review Fix: What do you think makes this band special?

Gutierrez: We are only four friends who enjoy the metal, composing music and we do everything we can to achieve the goal of creating music with the best possible intention. For us, it is special as we gather as friends and metal family.

Review Fix: How would you describe your style?

Gutierrez: Our style lies in the basis of global thrash metal and metal in general, although we have differences in the ages of our members is not an impediment to have our goal clear, simply THRASH METAL …

Review Fix: What are your goals for this album?

Gutierrez: Our main objective is to make known our work worldwide, to be heard by people who are really hungry for metal, it is our first LP but the second record as a band, and it is the opportunity to be massified our album, hopefully, they like it and be to his liking.

Review Fix: What’s the standout song? Is there a story behind it?

Gutierrez: We believe that our most outstanding song is – join the brotherhood – which gives the name to our album, it is an invitation to the brotherhood of the metal, that we are all one and we share the taste for the metal. I also highlight the song – Asesinato En El Pit – which translated is called “Murderer in the pit”, which invites and encourages to participate in the mosh-pit, as always the essence of thrash metal.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Gutierrez: Big question, our main objective is to continue working as a band and to remain active for many years, we do not want to be of those bands that create a single disc and dissolve for different reasons, we love metal and feel it as part of our lives, always we are connected to the music, we listen to it and that encourages us to remain firm as a band. As I mentioned before, this is the first step with which we already have our LP and circulating to different parts of the world, which we take great pride in.
