GFW Impact Coverage: No Genesis

Four Championship matches but a complete lack of sizzle made the Genesis event feel just like another week of Impact.

Matches:

Impact Grand Champion Ethan Carter III vs. Matt Sydal: After a counter of a Super TKO, Sydal hit the Powerbomb and Shooting Star to win the title that has long eluded him.

GFW Knockouts Champion Laurel Van Ness vs. Allie: Van Ness got the win in the highly contested match after she nailed Allie with the title behind the referees back. A sad way to see such a solid match end, especially in GFW’s “PPV” setting.

Moose vs. Lashley w/Dan Lambert: KM tried to get involved by bringing in a table, but Lashley wanted no part and Moose took advantage, kicking out of a Spear and winning after a pair of Game-Changers. After the match, Lambert put his hands on Lashley and Lashley responded by Spearing him and KM. Moose then set up the table in the corner and Lashley Speared him through it before the two shook hands.

Andrew Everett vs. GFW X-Division Champion Taiji Ishimori: Everett had a few opportunities, but Ishimori won with the 450.

GFW Champion Eli Drake w/Chris Adonis vs. Johnny Impact vs. Alberto El Patron: Impact could have escaped, but instead he chose to take out El Patron and Drake from the top of the cage with a Splash. Drake then hit Patron with the Gravy Train, but Impact broke it up. El Patron could have won on a few occasions as well, but came up short. The match ended after Adonis threw the cage door in Patron’s face and then caught Impact so he couldn’t touch the ground, allowing Drake to escape and retain his title.
