Review Fix: What males your promotion special?
Erik Viking: I think what makes/will make PWE special is its honesty. I’m a normal guy who’s done a few things in pro wrestling that has ultimately led me to promoting. I’m a people person and I really like to engage fans face-to-face or online while I’m promoting. Most promoters don’t get to know their fans on a personal level and I strive to. I feel like if the fan gets to know the promoter/writer/booker/everything, maybe they’ll invest more in my product and not think of me as “just another Indy.” I don’t want PWE to be just another random Indy that books a bunch of old WWE guys and has no story or emotion. I want the opposite of that and maybe that’ll make PWE stand out a little more. Storylines, that’s my main direction (something a lot of Indy’s lack). We have young, good wrestlers who are also good people outside of the ring. I make sure that my locker room is positive through and through and maybe that’ll make us the place where talent can just relax, have fun, no stress, and bring a positive vibe.
Review Fix: What does having Alex Payne as your champion mean to you?
Viking: Coming from me, Erik Viking (not PWE), it means a lot to me because I’ve seen Alex grow from the very bottom to now and even when his ROH ship sank in 2012, look what he did! He went back to the gym and got in even better shape and kept wrestling! Maybe he was a little bitter, but did that stop him? No. I saw that and knew I wanted to help elevate him. Alex was misunderstood in ROH and maybe he could have done just a few things differently, but in all, I think he’s really good and definitely underrated as an in-ring performer and promo. Nobody needed the PWE belt more than Alex and I’m willing to bet that nobody would have appreciated it more than him. It was 1.5 years in the making with Alex through matches and storyline, but we finally got it done.
Review Fix: How does it feel to have Delirious on the card?
Viking: I’m always happy to have Delirious in PWE! He was my trainer and helped me in many ways. Now I give back! He’s a veteran that can GO. And when I say go, I mean he’s out-hustling people and it just astonishes me how he does it. What he gives me in a PWE match is more than what I can offer back to him, so I appreciate the crazed Delirious immensely for that. Plus we both have a fixation on aliens which is cool.
Review Fix: Allie Reks runs with Federated, are you guys expecting anyone else from the faction on the show?
Viking: For PWE, Allie has decided to join forces with big Mike Orlando and The Untouchables (Alex Payne, Shane Hagadorn, Mike Orlando, Allie Recks). Honestly, I don’t know much about Federated to answer that question.
Review Fix: Run down the card- what matches are you most excited for?
Viking: The card for Friday night, Jan. 26th in Somerdale, NJ (10 Kennedy blvd- near Philly) at 6:30 pm is solid! Alex Payne defends against Delirious, Juan Francisco De’ Coronado will be facing a mystery OPW talent, Gacy vs. Grizzly, Beach Bums vs Xyberhawx2000, Jenny Rose vs Allie Recks, The Agency vs. Billy Avery/Smash, Jeff Cannonball is show up, it’s all fun! I’m most excited to see Joe Gacy vs. Grizzly Redwood, which has never happened before. It’s going to be A+ stuff. And last, I’m excited for Juan facing his mystery opponent because I know who it is, and it’s going to be awesome! Come out to find out who it is!
Review Fix: What performer do you think will surprise the most people at this event?
Viking: Who will be the biggest surprise on the show? Juan Francisco De’ Coronado’s mystery opponent.
Review Fix: What’s next?
Viking: Next up is PWE presents: COSMIC CHAOS on Sunday afternoon, March 11th at the same place- VFW Hall- 10 Kennedy blvd in Somerdale, NJ. 2:00 pm doors.
